In 1985, the Department of English was elevated to the status of a research department by the Mahatma Gandhi University. The CLRSC (Comparative Literature Research and Studies Centre) established in 1998, functioning under the Department of English as a separate Research Centre, has been instrumental in channelizing the research endeavours of students, teachers and scholars.

Research Centre

The Department of English was recognised as a Research Centre in 1985. Dr. G. Koshy, Dr. A.P. John, Dr. C.S. Philipose and Dr. M.Y. Abraham are the Research Supervisors.

The Research Centre has produced a total of eight PhDs till now. Three were awarded in the last 5 years:

CLRSC (Comparative Literature Research and Studies Centre) was established in 1998, as a separate Research Centre of the Department. Dr. G. Koshy is holding the post of Director. The CLRSC holds about 500 books in addition to copies of M.Phil and Ph.D dissertations from various universities.
